Ones 2 watch 2018: Dj Thakzin

With support from youngest Dj in the world Dj Arch Junior (who played a set mostly with DJ Thakzin’s music on the TV show SA’s Got Talent) and Dj Shimza (who featured DJ Thakzin on his most recent album), It’s no wonder Dj Thakzin is fast becoming a rising star at his stable Cap Rhythms.

Born Thabang L Mathebula in November 1993 and raised in Ivory Park with his older sister. He started learning music at the age of 7, by playing the Piano as his father taught him. He learnt a lot from his father musically, and this influenced him to learn more about music.

As time went on he started falling in love with house music. “I started deejaying from 2007 till current. In 2011 I gained interest in production, by late 2011 I had taught myself how to produce with my father’s Computer.” His music has been featured on various radio stations like Pure FM, YFM, Metro FM, Ikwekwezi, Voice of Tembisa e.t.c. He also had an appearance on Yotv promoting the song that Dj Shimza featured him on. Currently he has worked with Lulo Cafe, Busiswa, Baainar Records, Zano, Eltonnick, Dj Shimza, Maphorisa, Penny Penny, Dj Fortee, Komplexity, the late La Shad and e.t.c.

His standard of producing has improved and is still improving on each and every track he produces. “Trust me the best is yet to come (ngenzak’phela).” He says DjThakzin just released a new single titled ‘Africa’ featuring Leko M. Taken from the upcoming EP dropping soon. The single is currently doing well, and the masses are also receiving it very well. The EP is titled ‘Open Season’ with only 4 tracks on it. Featured artists on the EP are Leko M, Ray T, Paul B & Theology. He promises nothing but fire!
